We are thankful that the Lord provided us with a property at 373 Latour Crescent, just north of Powassan. Since purchasing the property, we have been completing stages of construction as fundraising has allowed. “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” (1 Samuel 7:12)
March 6, 2025 Update: We are thankful for excellent work by the framers this week, and the help of many local volunteers! They worked through some tough weather conditions, and managed to get most of the exterior walls up this week. We are still short of our fundraising goals, so we are focusing on framing the structural part the building for now. After paying for part of the framing and trusses, we will have about $430,000 in our building fund. We estimate that we still have to raise about $900,000 in donations or help order to bring to bring the project to completion. Please pray that the Lord continues to bless the work!!!
If you are able to help us, you can do this:
- By e-transfer to deacon@hopereformed.ca. Please put “Building Fund” in the comment box, as well as your name and contact information in the comments box if you would like a charitable donation receipt.
- Via cheque to “Hope Reformed Church” with “Building Fund” on subject line. Canada Post mail can be sent to: 373 Latour Crescent, P.O. Box 1325, Powassan, ON, P0H 1Z0.
- We are also reaching out to various churches and individuals about the possiblity of an open-ended loan in order to complete the project this year. Repayment would depend on ongoing fundraising efforts. If you are able to help out with this, or know of others who might help, please contact clerk@powassan.frcna.org or call 705-724-5070.
- We are looking for HVAC contractors who would be willing to give us a good deal. Contact hopefrcbuild@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out, hopefully in the fall.

February 7, 2025 Update: We have had to pay some bills, so the building fund is now down to $486,000. We are planning to begin framing in a few weeks, though we do not yet have the funds that we hoped we would. Our building committee has also been doing the general contracting themselves, please pray for wisdom, patience, and strength! We have been reaching out to our churches and some individuals to see if there might be willingness to provide an open-ended loan. Please pray that the Lord provides!
January 7, 2025 Update: We are continuing to fundraise as we wait for spring. Newsletters have been both emailed and posted to the councils of NAPARC churches throughout Ontario and some in other provinces and states. Individual copies of newsletters have been printed for mailboxes in a number of our sister churches. Advertisments have been placed in a number of Reformed publications as well. We currently have $490,000 in our building fund, which means that we still have to raise about a million dollars.
December 12, 2024 Update: The foundation is backfilled and the parking lot has been expanded to get ready for the next steps. We are now pausing work until spring. We have $459,905.54 in our building fund after paying for a few more expenses, which means that we still have to raise a little over a million dollars.
November 5, 2024 update: The foundation walls are in, and being backfilled. We have $439,201.63 in our building fund after paying for the foundation, so we are trying to fundraise about 1.26 million more over the winter in donations or offers to help. Many volunteer hours have already been put into the project. Due to the amount in our building fund and the costs of building over winter, we have decided that we should pause the project until at least spring. We are looking into hiring a general contractor in the spring, which will add as much as $250,000 to the cost. Please pray that the Lord continues to provide!

We welcome your support for this project. Please pray that the Lord would continue to provide a place for us to worship, give us wisdom throughout this process (James 1:5), and please consider if you are able to help. We still have a long way to go in fundraising for this project!
If you have questions about the process, suggestions, or questions contact hopefrcbuild@gmail.com.
